Check this article if you have any questions related to your cellular provider. If you want to set up your Pinwheel phone with your existing carrier, or looking to start fresh with a new provider, then these answers might help!
Can I use any cellular provider?
Pinwheel phones are unlocked, meaning a wide range of carriers should work as long as the provider is compatible with the model itself. Please check our list of tested carriers for more information on compatibility and availability in your area.
Can I add the Pinwheel phone to my existing plan?
Yes! Please check first if your Pinwheel phone model is compatible with your preferred carrier by checking this page. Then, you can go ahead and check with your cell service provider if you can add them to your existing plan. They might ask you for the phone model and IMEI (You can find this in your Caregiver portal as your Pinwheel ID) make sure you have those ready!
Do I need data in my plan for my child to use the Pinwheel phone?
Internet connection is required to ensure certain Pinwheel features to work like location tracking and scheduling. Certain apps also require internet connection as well.
Is the cellular service separately billed from the monthly Pinwheel subscription?
Yes. Pinwheel only handles the subscription for Pinwheel’s Caregiver portal, so you’ll be paying the cellular service separately.
Does Pinwheel offer cellular service?
No, Pinwheel is a software company, and not a cellular service provider. However, we do offer trial SIM cards for both Mint Mobile and US Mobile on our check-out page.
I have Sprint and they recently merged with T-Mobile. Why doesn’t the phone work on Sprint?
Although Sprint has merged with T-Mobile, there’s a possibility that your phone number is still under Sprint’s system, which is not compatible with our Pinwheel Slim. Please contact Sprint Support and ask for assistance in moving your service fully to T-Mobile’s.
