What are widgets?
Widgets are "previews" of apps that allow users to see the content without opening the app. These include things like viewing upcoming events on your calendar or the current playlist on your music app.
How do I get started?
If widgets are not already enabled for the phone, you will see a wizard come up after logging in. This will tell you what to do when the system prompts you to enable widget support.
After enabling widgets, we will add the Mode Countdown and Schedule widgets along with a small tutorial widget to help you get started.
What if I don't see anything on the phone?
If permissions were not enabled, you wouldn't see any apps or widgets on your home screen, but not to worry.
To access the list of apps, swipe up and you will see all the apps installed on the phone.
To add a widget, long press on the screen and select "Widgets" to see a list of available widgets. When you add a widget you will be prompted to allow the creation of the widget. If you don't want to be prompted again, select the "Always allow" option before clicking create.
What sort of customization options do I have?
You can make your phone your own by customizing the location of the following items on your home screens.
To move between pages, while you are dragging the item go to the left or right of the screen to navigate between screens.
To add a new page, navigate to the right of the right most page and you will see a blank page to start customizing.
Widgets
Widgets allow you to add a number of 3rd party widgets to any of your home screens. Long press on the screen and select "Widgets" to see a list of available widgets. Once you select one, you can then place it on the screen.
Many apps are resizeable to allow you to adjust them so you can truly customize your home screens the way you want!
App Links
You can create app links on your home screen for apps you use often. Swipe up to see the list of apps and long press on the app you wish you add to your home screen. You can then drag it to the page/location of your choosing.
App Groups
Sometimes it is nice to group similar apps together. To create a group, swipe up to see the list of apps and long press on the app you wish you add to your home screen. Drag the app to the page/location you wish to create the group for. Repeat the process of long pressing on other apps, and drag them over the existing location and the apps will become grouped.
Shortcuts
You can quickly access functionality in apps by long pressing on the app icon (either an app link or in the app list). If the app supports shortcuts, you will see a list appear.
How do I (re)move a Widget/Icon?
If you made a mistake, it is easy to remove widgets, app links, and app groups. Simply long press on the item and drag it up/over to allow you to place it in a new location.
If you want to remove it completely, drag the item to the "Remove" button at the top center of the screen.
